WALLENS
Richard L. Wallens, 87, of Lake Villa passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
Richard was born in Chicago on January 30, 1924, the son of the late Selma and Gabriel Wallens. He is a graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN and earned his Master’s degree in Political Science from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Richard was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, serving in the United States Army and retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
He lived in Lake Villa for the past 27 years and for 21 years was a member of the board of directors of the Lake Villa District Library where he served in various officer capacities.
He is survived by his wife Nancy with whom he celebrated 41 and a half years of marriage. Also surviving are his sons John and Michael, his daughter Patty, and five grandchildren.
All funeral services are private.
