Carol B. Messmer

Carol Beatrice Messmer, 86, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, surrounded by her family. Carol was born September 13, 1936, in Chicago, IL to the late Roy and Mary Hendrixson. She was one of 5 siblings, the late Shirley (Claude) Parker, Audrey (Robert) McCollom, and Mary Ann Savage. She is survived by her brother, Donald Hendrixson. Carol attended Marshall High School in Chicago. In her early years, Carol worked for Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator and later worked as a file clerk for Great Lakes Navy Recruitment Center. Most of her time was devoted to raising her three children and she was an avid dog lover. Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Fred Robert Messmer, and granddaughter Melissa Messmer. Carol is survived by her daughter, Debra (Danny) Jungenberg, sons Robert "Bob" and Matthew (Kiwol); grandchildren Danny Jr (Jennifer) Jungenberg, Charity Jungenberg, Erica Jungenberg, Sara Jungenberg, Tyler (Jessy) Jungenberg, Hillary Messmer, Kimberly Messmer, and David Messmer, great-granddaughters Elyse Badger, Taylor Moore, Ellie Haisman and Avery Gonzalez and great-grandsons RJ Jungenberg, Alan Haisman IV, and Rowan Jungenberg. She was also aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. A visitation will take place on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 4 - 8 pm at Ringa Funeral Home 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. Lake Villa, IL 60046. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. Interment following at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Save-A-Pet 31664 N Fairfield Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030 in Carol’s name would be appreciated. Visitation will take place on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Ringa Funeral Home 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. Lake Villa, IL. The funeral service will start at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 2:00 pm in Elwood, IL.
