Helen M Mulloy

Helen Marie “Sissy” Mulloy (née Schuler), 90, of Lake Villa, passed away on January 17th, 2023. Helen was born in Chicago on January 19th, 1932, to Joseph G. and Helen L. Schuler (née Connelly, formerly Quinlan). Helen was predeceased by her brothers Joseph (Eleanor) Schuler, Gregory (Mary Ann) Schuler, Francis (Maria) Schuler, Martin Quinlan, and James Quinlan. As a young woman, she enjoyed her work in several positions in downtown Chicago. In 1951 she was married to the late Francis P. Mulloy in Chicago, and later divorced. Later on, she worked very hard to support her family as a skilled keypunch operator at PPG Industries and Central Steel and Wire Company. She enjoyed spending time with her friends from work, with her weekly bowling team and occasional card-playing. She was a loving mother to five sons: the late Michael (Mary), the late Patrick (Laura), the late Thomas (the late Patricia), Gerald (Karen), and Peter (Renee). Helen raised her five sons as a single mother in the parish of St. Linus, Oak Lawn. In her dual role as a parent, she taught them things like baseball and football, in addition to many life lessons. She loved taking her boys to her mother’s cottage, “Francis Cottage”, to spend endless summer days and evenings relaxing, conversing, and playing cards near Cross Lake in Antioch. She loved performing in and volunteering for St. Linus’ annual Way Off Broadway fundraising productions. Her life-long love of water led her to be an avid swimmer, lifeguard, sailor, and President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Chicago Power Squadron—an accomplishment of which she was very proud. She enjoyed many sunsets on the lake. Later in life, Helen was lucky enough to love two other individuals, Casey Cesnauskas and Jim Harris. Helen was a loving grandmother to Sean (Sara), Patrick (Brenda), Adam, Christian, Matthew (Sarah), Peter (Alexandria), Debra (Jake), Nora, Liam, John, Michael (Dawn), Meghan (Joseph), Katie (Austin), and Kavan. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Arwyn; MacKenzie; Maxwell; Annabelle, Bronson, and Royce; Dash; Landon, Jade, and Hendrix; Theodore; and Kayla, Rory, and Liberty. Her many family picnics and gatherings were full of games, laughter, and enjoyment, and are remembered fondly by all. Helen is cherished by many and will be greatly missed. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 10:00 until time of serivce at 12:00 pm at Ringa Funeral Home 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. Lake Villa, IL. Burial will follow at Avon Centre Cemetery.
