James Mark White

James Mark White was born on December 24, 1946, in Libertyville, Illinois, and passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was a current resident of Spring Grove, Illinois, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and meaningful connections with others. James was the devoted husband of Roberta “Bert” White, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Craig (Terri) White and Dawn (Jason) Gutke, and a caring stepfather to Lorraine (Jim) Pratt. He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Corey and Emily White, Jackson and Dawson Gutke who were the light of his life. James is survived by his sisters Geri (Don) Meyer and Cleo Kelly, his sister‑in‑law Donna White, and will be fondly remembered as a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar White and Cleo White; his brothers Glen, Harold, and Joe White; and his sisters Jackie, Margaret, Gwen, and Snow. For more than 40 years, James worked in the sales industry, where his love of challenge and natural ability with people made him a successful and respected salesman. James loved being around others, and his sincere interest in people was felt by all who knew him. When James loved, he loved wholeheartedly and without reservation. Outside of work and family, James found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—especially gardening and fishing. Gardening was one of his true passions, a place where he could slow down, take pride in his hard work, and enjoy watching things grow. Fishing held a special place in James’s heart. He treasured the many fishing trips shared with his son, his grandsons, and close friends—times filled with laughter, stories, quiet reflection, and lasting memories. Whether casting a line at dawn or enjoying the companionship that came with the day, those moments on the water were among his most cherished. Above all, James adored his family and treasured every moment spent with them. James will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, strong work ethic, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. His legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched. A service for James will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 11 - 12:30 at Ringa Funeral Home in Lake Villa.
