Robert 'Bob' Delligatti

Robert “Bob” Vincent Delligatti, 62, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away Monday, August 10th surrounded by his family. Bob was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1964 to Cynthia Solomakos and Nicholas Delligatti. He is survived by his wife Margaret; his children Christine, Anthony (Tony), and Allison; his sisters Laura and Margaret (Margie), his uncle Carmine, and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Cynthia, and his father Nicholas. As a child, Bob was exceptionally gifted and intelligent. He developed a love for astronomy and electronics early on, even painting the solar system in one of his childhood bedrooms and building a robot from RadioShack parts. His love of technology propelled him into a lifelong career as a systems engineer in IT. Bob was also incredibly musically and visually artistic, creating two flip books by the age of 7 and turning his mother’s early music lessons into a lifelong piano passion that expanded into several genres, and into a band named “Allied Forces.” His childhood was also filled with travel, especially along Route 66, which he shared a special connection with throughout his life. In April of 1988, he saw a woman he knew he had to introduce himself to at the College of Lake County: Margaret Zigmund. The two began dating in a whirlwind adventure and married in 1992, later having their three children. Bob’s passion for travel, his intelligence, and his curiosity defined his life. He constantly wrote, recorded, and played music. His family remembers many evenings and holidays with the sound of the piano seat creaking and the notes of one of his compositions warming the house. The spark for traveling he got in his early life took him around the country, often surprising his children with a “pack your bags!” Friday evening for a Route 66 adventure and using Spring and Christmas break as an opportunity to drive to Florida. These trips were done in Bob’s beloved sage green Honda Odyssey, for which he learned advanced mechanics skills to partially rebuild the engine of to save the vehicle connected to so many family memories. Bob felt life should be spent making the most of each moment and quality time with family. Every holiday, no matter how cold in December or windy in September, the Christmas lights and Halloween decorations would go out to create magic. He used his telescope to inspire a love of the beauty of the universe with his family. The lesson Bob taught his loved ones is to treat every moment with care and joy and to take every opportunity to love the world around you. He will be dearly missed and will always be loved by the family he leaves behind. Visitation will be 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Ringa Funeral Home in Lake Villa, IL. A memorial service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place privately after the service.
