Thomas “Tommy” Roy Lackhouse Man of Many Roles Thomas Roy Lackhouse, 54, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, relaxing in his hot tub after a long day. Tommy was born on January 29th, 1970 in Oak Forest, IL son of the late Norman and Alice Lackhouse. Tommy grew up with 5 siblings. Brothers, Daniel (Brianna) Lackhouse, Norman Lackhouse, Gary Lackhouse, and Sisters, Karen (William) Ellinghaus and Sandra Lackhouse, whom he absolutely adored. Tommy lived for his family. His Nieces and Nephews were the World to him - Aubrie Lackhouse, Audrey Lackhouse, Austin Lackhouse, Jeffrey Carollo, Matthew Carollo, Jessica (Trinidad) Cordero, Trevor Lackhouse, Kasandra Lackhouse, Jason Lackhouse, Billy (Stephanie) Ellinghaus, Blake Ellinghaus, Brittany Ellinghaus, Bradley Ellinghaus, Brooke Ellinghaus and his great-nieces and nephews – Bryson Carollo, Avery Carollo, Dalton Carollo and Mia Cordero. Tommy met the love of his life, Trudy Maatta, in 2012. We never saw Tommy without Trudy. They did everything together. He immediately adopted her family as his own. Len and Fay Alu were second parents to Tom. Mitch and Amanda Maatta were his step-kids and he cherished his step-grandkids, Lexi Bulvia, Anderson Bulvia, Gracie Maatta, and Dawson Maatta. And we can’t forget his Babies (Dogs) Gunner and Max. Tommy was a hard worker and always available to help, whether it was working on his home, helping at the cottage, or helping others with their home projects. He had a successful career at UL for 35 plus years and earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering during that time. Tommy had a passion for water and speed. He loved to boat, wave run, and 4-wheel. Although he always preached “Safety First” he could be described as a little reckless (hence the name of his boat “Loose Nut” and as much as he enjoyed these activities, he enjoyed them more when he could share them with his family and friends. He loved taking his nieces, nephews, and step-grandkids boating, skiing, tubing, and fishing. Family was Everything! Tommy was truly a man of many roles, a son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, life partner, and role model. He was always laughing, and smiling, loved to be goofy, was the Master on the Grill, and had a lot to say on his views about politics-MAGA ? Tommy taught us life is too short to take too seriously. His life was taken too soon, and he will truly be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tommy, you will live in our hearts and memories forever. Rest in Peace – We Love You! Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Ringa Funeral Home in Lake Villa, IL. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place privately after the service.
