Dorothy A. Erfurth, of Vernon Hills, passed away on Thursday August 29, 2019 at the age of 85. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 29, 1934 to the late Harry and Emily Linder and graduated from Brooklyn College. She married Salvatore Maddi and together they briefly lived in Cambridge, MA before moving to Chicago where they raised their two children. She began working for the American Bar Foundation in the 1960's as a research social scientist and published numerous articles in national journals concerning the effect of changes in various laws. In the early 1980’s she married Herbert Erfurth and chose to retire from the Bar Foundation to work part-time in a real estate office which allowed her and her husband the time to travel. She loved living in the Pullman area of Chicago, where she volunteered in the Historic Pullman house tours, was a member of the Garden Club, and the Bridge Club. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Robert) Maddi, her son Chris (Toni) Maddi; grandchildren David (Steph) Perks, Maxim (Stephanie) Iott, Nora Piotrowski; great-grandchildren Aubrey and Gianna; sister Diana (Fred) Kistner, and brother Bill (Donna) Linder. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert whom she was married to almost 20 years and her sister Janet Monteith. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 and would be greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
