George L. Orbank

April 26, 1934 - June 29, 2020

George L. Orbank, 86 years old of Lake Villa, passed away on Monday June 29, 2020. He was born in Waukegan, IL on April 26, 1934 to the late George and Ann Orbank. He was a member of Prince of Peace Church for over 60 years and was instrumental in the building projects on the church campus. He was a 28 year veteran of the Lake Villa Volunteer Fire Department and made his way up to Lieutenant. He had a passion of restoring old cars and one of his accomplishments was helping restore the antique Lake Villa Fire Truck. George’s original career choice was to be a tool and die maker for Cherry Electric where he eventually became Plant Superintendent and was instrumental in building plants worldwide. He enjoyed his time fishing and looked forward to the trips up to Canada. George loved his time traveling with Martha and cruises were one of his favorite activities. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and exploring travel destinations with them. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Karl Orbank. George is survived by his wife of 67 years Martha; children Carol (Dan) McKevitt and Barbara (Thomas) Ruhl; grandchildren Heather (John) Maxwell, Meghan (Jason) Burns, Patrick (Amanda) McKevitt, Kristen (Paul Eells) Ruhl and Kate (Rory) Blanchard; great-grandchildren Linleigh, Grace, Archer, Emery, and Phoebe; brother Robert Orbank and sister Kathy Grogan. George is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor George’s memory.
