Harold 'Hal' Class

Harold M. 'Hal' Class, Jr. of Round Lake Beach, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Hal was born July 14, 1932 in Lockport, NY, the son of the late Harold M. Class, Sr. and Grace Laatch. He served for six years in the United States Navy. As an Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class, Hal provided electronics services aboard aircraft on the USS Coral Sea. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1955. Hal studied electrical engineering at State University of New York at Buffalo and later rose through management ranks at Stromberg Carlson (communications equipment) and General Dynamics (in its shipbuilding and defense businesses) before being promoted to Vice President of Materials Management at the former Pennsylvania Electric Co. Hal’s assignments took him and his family throughout the country, including Rochester, NY, Boston, MA, San Diego, CA and Johnstown, PA. Hal was also an avid golfer and played at many courses throughout the country. When he could no longer play, he followed the game and tournaments on TV. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Lorraine “Lorie” Ellen (neé Tudor) Class of Round Lake Beach, IL, children Kevin Martin Class of Round Lake Beach and Kelly Marie (Peter) Guziewski of Elmhurst, IL, grandchildren Julia Ann Class of Brooklyn, NY, Paul Martin Guziewski of Chicago, IL, and Jason Louis Guziewski of Elmhurst, IL. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ethel (James) Rehm and Henry 'Hank' (Loretta) Class. Memorial visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 135 S. Milwaukee Ave. Lake Villa, IL 60046. A memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace. The United States Navy will present military honors after Mass. Cremation will take place privately. An additional memorial Mass will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Parish, 76 Church St, Lockport, NY 14094 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at Cold Spring Cemetery in Lockport, NY immediately following Mass.
