    Henry E. Tegtmeyer

    November 30, 1933 - May 21, 2022

Henry Erwin Tegtmeyer was born on November 30, 1933, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert and Mayme Tegtmeyer. Henry attended the Gulf Coast Military Academy in Mississippi and graduated from Northeast High School in North Carolina. In 1953 Henry joined the Army and was stationed in Wertheim, Germany. While there, he met and married the love of his life. As a young man, he became an advanced painter at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Henry joined Rust-Oleum Corporation in 1962 and stayed for 37 years until his retirement as a chemist in 1999. Henry was a talented painter and a lover of all music. He had a wonderful sense of humor and got great joy in discussing politics. He took pleasure in birdwatching, flowers, and cats. Henry also enjoyed movies and books about space and history. He always had something to add to any gathering. Henry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Herta; daughters Karin (Rich Hooghkirk) Kyrk and Angelika Nowlin; son Henry (Alberto Gonzalez) Tegtmeyer; granddaughters Melissa (Jerry) Jelinek, Autumn (Hugo) Acurio, and Courtney (Randy White) Breit; grandsons Jeremy Kyrk and Colin Robinson; great-granddaughters Cadence Breit, Arabela Acurio, and Abigail Jelinek; and great-grandsons Dawson Breit, Vinicio Acurio, Dylan Breit, Jack Jelinek, and Oliver Acurio. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Janie Phillips and Anita Baker. Henry leaves a whole in his family and will be deeply missed. A visitation will take place on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at Ringa Funeral Home 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. Lake Villa, IL with military honors at 6:45 pm. Cremation will be private.
