    Joseph N Reiner Jr.

    August 21, 1938 - April 1, 2021

On Thursday, April 1, 2021, Joseph Reiner, Jr., a long-time resident of Chicago and Lake Villa, Illinois, passed away at age 82. Joe was born on August 21, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Catherine (Demes) Reiner. He attended technical school for typesetting and started his career at Howell Typesetting. After running his own typesetting business, Classic Typographers, Inc., for many years he enjoyed a long retirement starting at age 55. On June 21, 1969, he married Carol Schultz. They raised three daughters and two sons. Joe was a jack of all trades. He completely remodeled his two houses from top to bottom and always had a project going on his workbench. He loved spending time with his beloved late wife, Carol, his family and extended family, and hearing the noise of all his grandchildren around the house. Long known for his strong Catholic faith, he served as an usher at Prince of Peace Catholic Church for many years. He was a mentor for many, and his honor knew no bounds. He was known for his perseverance, great wisdom, his unique laugh, and stubborn nature. Joe leaves his five children, Laura (Art), Lisa (Ryan), Jennifer (Rob), Joseph (Dianna), Curtis (Jennifer); and his 14 grandchildren: Nick, Jeff, Samantha, Luke, Avin, Bryan, Amya, Logan, Ayla, Abigail, Joey, Alyn, Kayla, and Evelyn. Joe will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Kitty Genthner, Margie Tomany; brothers Robert (Mary) Reiner and Ron (Linda) Reiner; sisters-in-law Rosella Richardt, Judith (Larry) Hintz, and Patricia (Tim) Kehrer; brothers-in-law Ron Schultz, Robert (Elaine) Schultz, Jerald Schultz, and Ken Schultz; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his spouse, Carol; his sisters Donna Pomerich and Carol Barnett; and in-laws Don Genthner, Bill Pomerich, Ron Barnett, Bruce and Janice Johnson, Roberta and Jim Adler, Larry Schultz, Linda Schultz, Harvey Schultz, Carol Schultz, Peggy Schultz, and Paul Richardt. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave., Lake Villa, IL 60046. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace, 135 S. Milwaukee Ave., Lake Villa, IL 60046. If you plan to attend Mass, the church asks that you please pre-register using this link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/josephreinerjrfuneral Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Joe to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, a cause close to his heart.
