Lawrence Herbert, age 80, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away at home on Friday, October 26, 2018. He was born in Chicago on December 11, 1937, the son of the late Wallace and Madeline Herbert. He moved to Lake County at a young age at spent most of his young life on a farm. Larry volunteered as a Scout Master for Troop 83 and was also active in the Lake Villa and Antioch rescue squad for 40 years. He was a dedicated member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where he participated in the choir and ran the soundboard. He was also a ham radio operator, harmonica player, beagle aficionado, and photographer. Larry was a devoted caregiver to his wife Barbara and was always quick to help others. He is survived by his son Scott (Kristine) Herbert, grandchildren Kyle and Krystalynn, brother Neil (Anita), and by his nieces and nephews Holly, Brett, Rick, Laurie, Kathy, and Billy. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara and by his son Michael (Diane). The family would like to thank Larry's wonderful caregivers Tabietha and Belinda for their care and compassion. Visitation will be on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. Lake Villa, IL 60046. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a procession to Grant Cemetery in Ingleside.
