Norman H. Klinder

December 20, 1924 - July 9, 2013

Norman Klinder, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Village at Victory Lakes Nursing Center, Lindenhurst, IL. Norman was born in Chicago on December 20, 1924 the son of the late Helen and Frank Klinder. He was loved by all of the family as he was the baby. He had only a big sister Helen, who doted on him. Helen fondly recalls that for Christmas one year Norm got a bike but she got ice skates. After she had her first job, Helen took Norman downtown on the weekends to the movies and lunch, a real treat. He attended Chicago Public Schools and worked at various jobs until he landed at Abbott Labs for many years until he retired. He lived with his dad until he married Eva at the age of 40. They lived in Waukegan and both worked at Abbott. They had no children but enjoyed their nephews, nieces and cousins. Norm had a true passion for golf. He often said that nothing was better than this kind of walk in the woods, chasing a little ball. He enjoyed time with family & friends in the beautiful lake areas of Michigan. He also loved Las Vegas, where he played the slots and enjoyed the shows. Norm liked to have a good dinner, to play cards and then to relax with family & friends. He liked to travel with his sister Helen and her husband Herbert. Those were special memories. After his wife passed, he moved to the Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL. He made friends there, and Kathryn Anderson became a very special friend. He settled into a new life there for 15 years. Norm will be missed. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m at Ringa Funeral Home; 122 S. Milwaukee Ave (Rte 83), Lake Villa, IL, 60046. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, IL.
