Kenneth W Janke

Kenneth Warren Janke, age 77, passed away on April 17, 2025. A gentle and deeply loving man, Ken’s life was marked by his kindness and unwavering devotion to his family. Born on August 23, 1947, Ken lived with integrity and a strong sense of purpose. He was a devoted father to four children, whom he proudly coached through years of youth sports. Whether on the field or in everyday life, he led by example—always steady, always supportive, and always there. He stood behind his children in all their pursuits, cheering them on not only in sports but in every dream and endeavor they took on. Ken was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded two Purple Hearts along with other commendations for his service. He had a lifelong love of rock & roll, and he and Ann shared many joyful nights together at concerts, soaking in the music they loved and the memories they created along the way. Music was one of the many joys that brought color to Ken’s world. Ken loved the water and found great joy in boating on the Chain—moving through winding channels, relaxing at sandbars, or laughing as he whipped his kids around on a tube behind the boat. Some of the family’s favorite memories were made out on those waters, where Ken was in his element: calm, content, and surrounded by the people he cherished. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Oompa” or “Oompy.” He showed his love through consistency and care—making the effort to attend their games and events, cheering them on from the sidelines, always observant, always proud. Though we grieve his passing, we are comforted by the memories he leaves behind. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his four children: Larry (Shannon), Melissa(Matt), Robert(Tricia), and Sara; his younger brother, Bill(Jane); many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. He was predeceased by his parents, Willard and Martha Janke, and his brother, Conrad. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
